Based on these results, we'll create a tailored schedule, with students typically meeting with me up to two hours a day, four days a week for our most intensive program, or as little as one hour, depending on their needs. Founded in Boulder in 2006 and now based in Denver since 2020, Summit Reading Center is a specialized learning center dedicated to strengthening foundational literacy skills for students of all ages. I provide individualized instruction in reading, writing, language comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, and math, focusing on helping students overcome challenges like dyslexia and other language-based learning difficulties. My unique approach aims to build what I call a "Reading Center" or reading network in the brain, empowering students to become confident and independent learners. What makes Summit Reading Center different from other tutoring services? I go beyond traditional content tutoring. My approach uses multi-sensory programs and leverages the latest learning science to address the root causes of learning difficulties. I offer comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to identify specific needs, then design a program tailored to each student. My methods are designed to help students make significant progress in a shorter timeframe, often seeing several years of progress in as little as six weeks with intensive instruction. What tests do you use? I use a battery of tests that target specific areas of literacy and language. The following are among those he uses: C-TOPP (Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing): Assesses phonological awareness, phonological memory, and rapid naming. GORT (Gray Oral Reading Test): Measures oral reading fluency and comprehension. WRAT (Wide Range Achievement Test): Provides a quick screening of basic academic skills (reading, spelling, arithmetic). PPVT (Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test): Measures receptive vocabulary. TOWL (Test of Written Language): Evaluates various aspects of written expression. SI test (Sensory Imagery test). Woodcock-Johnson word attack portion. What is the typical program structure? Math is a language with its own vocabulary and many of the words used in math have subtle meanings that can trip students up. I teach math students to identify patterns, draw inferences, and evaluate information in order to navigate tough, multi-step mathematical concepts. I work with math students from beginner level through algebra. Do you take insurance? No, I do not directly accept insurance.
